Hey... [Dec. 30th, 2005|11:38 am]
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Fans

I just joined and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm pretty much infatuated with Hitchhiker's, and I also enjoy Dirk Gently and Dr. Who. I have the radio series pretty much memorized. When I was little I used to sleep with a copy under my pillow, but now I wake up by listening to some section of the radio series, thanks to the inventor of remote controls.

I like the movie and the book, but I maintain that Carey Kirkpatrick shouldn't have messed up Hitchhiker's like he did. Nevertheless, I brought a towel to the film and kept it in my lap during the movie. My friends would think I'm out of my skulls if I had any. Friends, that is. My favorite book out of the series is Restaurant, and I call Douglas Adams by his nickname, Bop Ad.

"The other Shaltanac's joopleberry shrub is always a more mauvy shade of pinky russet."-My favorite Hitchhiker's quote

Hi all fellow hitchhikers! [Jul. 20th, 2005|06:09 pm]

I'm new, so I better introduce myself. I'm shortshanks, and in addition to being a fan of Hitchhikers, I also enjoy Star Trek, and Pirate of the Caribbean. I'm a Christian who is currently in Bible college, working on a bachelor's degree. I love good science fiction (sci-fi that asks some form of the Ultimate Question; THE Question), which means that I don't care too much for the new War of the Worlds. I also write, enjoying writing fan fiction and my own stories. I've also started a new Hitchhiker's community here on LJ. I haven't figured out to hyperlink stuff, so here's the URL. http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=bathtowels. Check it out.

And obviously we all know what bath towels are about. ;)

And yeah, I'm not that computer literate!

Hitchhikers Clothing, anyone?

There's only two shirts up now, but they're both reasonably priced and pretty hoopy looking.

Go. Look. Buy. Enjoy.

A Fan's Review, X-Posted [May. 23rd, 2005|03:38 pm]

...my own thoughts on the Hitchhiker movie, with comparisons to the book. Interested to know if anyone felt the same, or would beg to differ.

Brief Hitchhiker Review

Amazon.com had a used book of the entire Hitchhiker series for 12 bucks, so I grabbed it. I had enough time to read a dozen pages of the novel before I saw the movie, which was enough to give me a good idea of what I was in for (not a fan of TV, I hadn’t seen any previews). These have been my thoughts in comparison, so far...

Before I read the main source I viewed the movie and never felt like I had missed anything, which I knew meant that a lot of people who had “never seen anything like it” would fall absolutely in love with the film. While it lacked some serious elements that I prefer in the Weird category, it was all in all an enjoyable film. It is a pretty crazy story – kudos for trying to put it on the screen and doing as well as they did.
